Mend, Hem & Sew (101)

Does your favorite T-shirt have a hole or a busted seam? Did your best dress or tank top break a strap? Have a pair of pants you'd like to learn to hem?

Come to The MINT and learn how to use a sewing machine and quickly fix, hem and modify all your favorite fashion pieces!!

In this class students will be focusing on building their skills on the sewing machine by making a reusable shopping bag.

This class is for anyone who wants to learn how to use a sewing machine and get oriented to the MINT textiles space. Beginners welcome!!

Students will receive:

  • An introduction to the features of the textiles lab, different parts of the sewing machines, basic setup.
  •  An overview of how to operate a sewing machine. Loading thread, bobbins, material; setting stitch type; moving fabric through the machine
  • Lots of hands-on practice and time for Q & A

This is a single-session class. Monday, January 23, 5:30-8PM.

Cost: Members $10, Non-members $30
