    INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING- FDM

Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation on FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing.

This session covers the different rapid prototyping technologies and a brief history, focusing on FDM 3D printing and how printers work today.

We’ll review printer parts, safety basics, common printing techniques, and best practices. You’ll also learn where to find design files, how slicing software works, and what settings to focus on.

The session wraps up with a demo using PrusaSlicer, showing the full process from STL (model) file to print.

Time permitting, prints will be started during the class, with pickup available if desired.

This orientation is ideal for anyone new to 3D printing or looking to use The MINT’s FDM printers. Attendees will receive access to the printer reservation calendar after the session.

We hope to see you there!

    INTRO TO CAD

Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to Computer-Aided Design (CAD)!

In this course, you'll learn the basics of CAD terminology, explore the different types of CAD software, and get a brief look at its history and real-world uses.

We’ll be working with Onshape, a modern cloud-based CAD program, to reverse-engineer a simple cap-shaped object. The class includes about one hour of guided instruction followed by a hands-on Onshape demo where you’ll create your own design.

If time allows, we may even 3D-print some of the designs made in class. We’re excited to have you join us!
