Introduction to Glass Flameworking
Discover the mesmerizing art of glass flameworking!
In this introductory class, you'll learn the fundamentals of working with a propane/oxygen torch to melt and shape glass rods.
We'll cover the basics of the flameworking setup, essential safety procedures, and a brief history of glass.
You'll gain hands-on experience pulling stringers, creating twisties, and forming basic beads. We'll also explore various decorating techniques and learn how to properly finish your glass creations, including annealing.
By the end of this class, you'll have a foundational understanding of torch work and the skills to create your own unique glass beads, marbles, pendants, and more.

The Joy of Letterpress

Introduction to letterpress, and the joy of designing and printing wet ink on paper.
A hands on class to learn the process of letterpress printing. Attendees will be guided through the entire process of planning, preparing a chase with printing blocks, setting up a table top press, inking up a press, and making prints.
You will experience all the stages of creating a simple print, how to safely operate the printing equipment, and how to clean up.
No prerequisites, or material fees. Printing blocks, paper, and ink will be provided.
You will be able to keep any prints you create.

Two-Color Letterpress Printing
Wednesday, June 10th / 5:30PM-7:30PM
Learn principles, techniques, and processes for printing with more than one color. Printing block designs, registration, ink qualities, and wet on dry process will be discussed. Hands on printing of a 2-color project.
Attendees will learn how to design and execute multi-color prints using physical printing blocks and Letterpress equipment.

INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING- FDM
Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation on FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing.
This session covers the different rapid prototyping technologies and a brief history, focusing on FDM 3D printing and how printers work today.
We’ll review printer parts, safety basics, common printing techniques, and best practices. You’ll also learn where to find design files, how slicing software works, and what settings to focus on.
The session wraps up with a demo using PrusaSlicer, showing the full process from STL (model) file to print.
Time permitting, prints will be started during the class, with pickup available if desired.
This orientation is ideal for anyone new to 3D printing or looking to use The MINT’s FDM printers. Attendees will receive access to the printer reservation calendar after the session.

INTRO TO CAD
Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to Computer-Aided Design (CAD)!
In this course, you'll learn the basics of CAD terminology, explore the different types of CAD software, and get a brief look at its history and real-world uses.
We’ll be working with Onshape, a modern cloud-based CAD program, to reverse-engineer a simple cap-shaped object. The class includes about one hour of guided instruction followed by a hands-on Onshape demo where you’ll create your own design.
If time allows, we may even 3D-print some of the designs made in class. We’re excited to have you join us!

Camp Theme: Youth Intro to CAD Camp!
Dates: July 10-12, August 7-9 (Fri-Sun)
Time: 8am-12pm (drop off between 8-8:30am, pickup between 12-12:30pm)

This is a half day weekend course on CAD and 3D Printing! In this camp, you will gain experience with the Onshape CAD software and The MINT’s 3D Printers. Using Onshape, we will explore the basics of CAD Drafting, create a basic Toy Top, and work through a variety of additional exercises to create items to take home after camp. Each day will build upon the previous day’s work, and we will utilize the 3D Printers to make our designs come to life! This week-long, full-day camp offers a hands-on introduction to the art of ceramics, where students will master foundational hand-building techniques including pinch pots, coil-building, and slab construction. Throughout the week, campers will learn to manipulate raw clay into both imaginative sculptures—such as monsters and gnomes—and functional household items like planters, trays, and plates. Participants will develop essential motor skills and tool proficiency while exploring structural techniques to build height and strength in their work. We will also dive into surface design by using found objects like leaves and stamps to press unique textures into the clay, finally concluding the camp with an introduction to underglazes, where students will learn to apply decorative details and vibrant color to their custom creations.

MINT Maker Camp: Youth Glass Camp!
Dates: August 10th-14th, 2026
Comfortable, durable clothing suitable for indoor and outdoor activities and gloves for working with glass.
Closed-toe shoes with good traction.
A week of all things glass! Each day will be filled with making art in both glass fusing and mosaics! We'll work together on a variety of hands-on activities that will involve learning how to cut glass, creating fused glass items like sun-catchers and learning mosaic techniques to create different kinds of mosaics (including garden stakes) throughout the week. This camp is intended for campers who will be able to attend all 5 days. All the activities build on skills learned the day before. Also, all projects will take more than one day to complete. Friday will be our grouting day so come in clothes that can get dirty! Get ready for a week of fun: creativity, innovation, and friendship! Painting With Rae
Join Rae Newell for a 10 week exploration in oil and acrylic painting. Rae brings to The MINT decades of painting and art instruction and we are very excited to have her! This class is open to adults and is hosted in our Jr MINT room at 112 Quality Lane.
Students should bring their favorite brushes, paints, pallet, and canvas.
If you are looking for supplies, please check out The MINT's Creative Reuse Shop, reMake, at 72 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland or Kaleidoscope Arts on Center Street also in Downtown. Rae will also have items on hand for things that get left at home.
