Painting With Rae
Join Rae Newell for an 8 week exploration in oil and acrylic painting. Rae brings to The MINT decades of painting and art instruction and we are very excited to have her! This class is open to adults and is hosted in our Jr MINT room at 112 Quality Lane.
Students should bring their favorite brushes, paints, pallet, and canvas.
If you are looking for supplies, please check out The MINT's Creative Reuse Shop, reMake, at 72 Merchants Row in downtown Rutland or Kaleidoscope Arts on Center Street also in Downtown. Rae will also have items on hand for things that get left at home.

INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING- FDM
Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation on FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing.
This session covers the different rapid prototyping technologies and a brief history, focusing on FDM 3D printing and how printers work today.
We’ll review printer parts, safety basics, common printing techniques, and best practices. You’ll also learn where to find design files, how slicing software works, and what settings to focus on.
The session wraps up with a demo using PrusaSlicer, showing the full process from STL (model) file to print.
Time permitting, prints will be started during the class, with pickup available if desired.
This orientation is ideal for anyone new to 3D printing or looking to use The MINT’s FDM printers. Attendees will receive access to the printer reservation calendar after the session.

Sea Glass Pendants
with Marla Cohen

Come create jewelry from the ocean! In this sea glass class we will create pendants out of ocean tumbled sea glass and learn jewelry finishing techniques to complete the look.
You’ll be able to wear your creations straight out of class!
Students will learn about the preparation of glass and how to use the drop shaft Dremel drill along with safety basics. The class will practice drilling samples of sea glass before progressing to drilling their selected statement pieces.
Finally students will use jewelry hand tools to learn basic beading and finishing techniques like bails and jump rings. Multiple pendants may be made as time allows.
The instructor will provide a sampling of sea glass to practice on as well as a variety of statement glass pieces to choose from.
Students may bring their own pieces of sea glass to work on but please have it soaked in water for at least 1 week prior to class with a longer soak time for thicker pieces of glass.
No experience necessary.
Wear closed-toed shoes.
Please tie long hair back away from face.

New to the wheel or need a refresher? This class is perfect for pottery beginners looking to learn a new skill and create something beautiful! This class will give you all the basic skills needed to get started in the clay studio.

Multi-Color Letterpress Printing
Wednesday, Feb. 25th / 5:30PM-7:30PM
Learn principles, techniques, and processes for printing with more than one color. Printing block designs, registration, ink qualities, and wet on dry process will be discussed. Hands on printing of a 2-color project.
Attendees will learn how to design and execute multi-color prints using physical printing blocks and Letterpress equipment.
***This class does not include Letterpress Orientation, and does not provide authorization for independent printing in the Letterpress shop.

This class is a hands-on continuation of our Intro to CAD session, designed for those who want to apply CAD skills to real-world projects using Onshape, a modern cloud-based CAD tool.
The class is almost entirely project-based. Attendees will work through guided examples to create:
• One single-piece part
• One multi-piece part (2+ components)
• One example using image tracing and scaling.
If time allows, we’ll explore additional examples and work through scenarios based on interests and project needs.
This session is ideal for those who want to move beyond the basics and gain confidence using CAD in practical, real-world contexts. We hope to see you there!

Calling all MINT pottery folks!
Join us on February 28th for a fun bowl making party to create bowls for our chili cook off fundraiser. We will bring the clay and snacks, and you bring the fun!
Please note that this is not a class, so there won't be any teaching, but it will be a fun time for our pottery community to come together and have fun making!
Can't make it but still want to donate a handmade bowl? Yay! Please leave any bowls that you have made that you would like to donate on the labeled green cart in the pottery studio.

Pet Portrait Mosaics Workshop

Come and create a mosaic representation of your favorite pet! Dogs, cats, horses, lizards, chickens.....all are appropriate. Project will create a 8 x 10 portrait suitable for framing or simple display. This class is beginner friendly, so all skill levels are welcome!

The Joy of Letterpress

Introduction to letterpress, and the joy of designing and printing wet ink on paper.
A hands on class to learn the process of letterpress printing. Attendees will be guided through the entire process of planning, preparing a chase with printing blocks, setting up a table top press, inking up a press, and making prints.
You will experience all the stages of creating a simple print, how to safely operate the printing equipment, and how to clean up.
No prerequisites, or material fees. Printing blocks, paper, and ink will be provided.
You will be able to keep any prints you create.

Rapid Prototyping – Resin (SLA) Printing Orientation
Tuesday, March 10th / 6PM-8PM
Join us at The MINT for a brief orientation in Resin/SLA (Stereolithography) 3D printing.
We’ll kick things off with a quick overview of rapid prototyping technologies, with a focus on resin/SLA printing.
From there, we’ll explore the history of resin printing and dive into how resin printers work, including key safety considerations. Along the way, we’ll cover common printing techniques, tips for best results, and how to turn digital designs into physical parts.
We’ll review websites for finding design files, discuss slicing software and recommended settings, and walk through best practices.
The session will conclude with a live demo using Chitubox and an STL file of your choice, showing the full workflow from model to print. If time allows, we’ll run as many prints as possible during the session.Print pickup can be arranged afterward if desired.
This orientation is perfect for anyone new to 3D printing or interested in using The MINT’s resin printers. After the class, all Mint Members will receive access to the printer reservation calendar. We hope to see you there!
** NOTE THAT THE DEMO WILL REQUIRE USING PPE - Safety gloves are provided and required to handle liquid resin and the printers. In addition, eye glasses/coverings are recommended and will be provided. If you require any specialized PPE, please reach out to discuss accommodations.***

Let’s Eat! Calling all chili enthusiasts!
Join us on March 28th for our second annual Chili Cook-Off. This is an opportunity for our community to come together, share space, be warm, and celebrate a love of chili. It is also a chance to share The MINT with friends and family and help us raise funds in support of our programming.
We will be hosting 10 - 15 local chili competitors. We've also got some local "celebrity" judges!
Your job? Come hungry! We will be selling MINT-made ceramic bowls for you to fill three times then take home.

We will have bowls for sale at the door along with composti-bowls for those with a tighter budget and less cabinet space!
